Rob Gronkowski got unwittingly roped into a joke about his former coach Bill Belichick’s romantic life on a recent podcast. (Watch the video below.)
The NFL tight end great was listening to “Sundae Conversation” host Caleb Pressley gush over the “really exciting teams” for next season.
“Bills picked up a 24-year-old,” Pressley noted.
“The Buffalo Bills?” Gronkowski asked innocently.
“No,” Pressley replied, as Gronkowski looked puzzled. “Have you met Bill Belichick’s girlfriend?”
Gronkowksi, who won three Super Bowls under Belichick on the New England Patriots, laughed.
Pressley continued to riff on the relationship between Belichick, 73, and Jordon Hudson, 24, before Gronk chimed in, “He got me. How did I fall for that one?”
The exchange has been making the media rounds amid increased scrutiny of the six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach’s relationship with the much younger woman.
Hudson interrupted a recent CBS News interview with Belichick, objecting to a question about how the two met. Reports about her influence in Belichick’s professional life prompted the former New England Patriots coach to defend her.
“It’s a personal relationship, and she doesn’t have anything to do with football,” he said.
The University of North Carolina, where Belichick now coaches, also went out of its way to deny a report that Hudson had been banned from the football team facilities.
